Background

The short version is on the front page. This is the longer one, if you are deciding whether to write.

I work alone, from Hannover, and have done since 2020. The day job is high-performance C++: making things fast, making them parallel, and getting them to hold up at scale. The research runs alongside it.

Since 2020: Self-employed. Client work in web, e-commerce and engineering.
10+ years: Writing code. C++ is the part I reach for when something has to be fast: parallel and numerical work, OpenMPI, solver internals.
Earlier: Read mathematics, and left before the degree to work full time. The parts that stuck were the combinatorics and the proof discipline.
Now: High-performance and parallel C++ for clients, and research on combinatorial search alongside it.

How an engagement usually runs.

Someone sends two sentences: here is the problem, here is what it costs us today. If it looks like a performance, parallelisation or search problem rather than an infrastructure one, the next step is a week of measuring against your own inputs, with a target we agree on before I start.

After that week there are three possible answers, and the third one comes free: it works and here is by how much, it does not work and here is why, or this was never your bottleneck in the first place.

I do not take work I cannot measure. Without your inputs and something to beat, there is nothing for me to prove and nothing for you to check.

Web development, online marketing and e-commerce are not part of this practice. That work runs under IT Matter and has its own site.
